KATHMANDU: The Department of Immigration on Tuesday conducted an orientation and interaction program with stakeholders to strengthen the effective implementation of the Foreign National Management Information System (FNMIS).
According to the department, the system is expected to support local registration of foreign nationals, security monitoring, criminal investigations, and disaster management.
The department has urged service providers including hotels, trekking agencies, airlines, banks, and telecom companies to mandatorily integrate with the system.
Under the new arrangement, foreign nationals will be able to complete “self-enrollment” through the department’s mobile application, while service providers can register through a dedicated web portal.
The department stated that the implementation of the FNMIS has already improved monitoring of foreign nationals involved in illegal activities.
According to departmental data, 523 foreign nationals involved in unauthorized activities were deported in 2025. As of May 25, 2026, a total of 152 foreign nationals have been deported this year.
The department said the system is aimed at making immigration monitoring more systematic, technology-driven, and coordinated among relevant agencies.
