Moderate rain likely in hilly regions, heat expected in plains

KATHMANDU: The country is currently under the influence of western winds, local winds, and a low-pressure system around eastern Nepal.

According to the Weather Forecast Division, skies will remain generally cloudy in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim are expected to see partly cloudy conditions.

The Division has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall along with snowfall, thunder, and lightning at some places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Similar conditions are also likely in parts of the Terai in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Madhes provinces, as well as in a few hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Light rain with thunder and lightning may occur at one or two locations in the Terai of Lumbini Province.

Hot weather conditions are likely to persist in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim, while stormy conditions may develop in a few areas of the Terai in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Madhes provinces.

Overall, the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim will remain generally cloudy, while hilly areas in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim may see partly cloudy skies.
