NA Chair Dahal confident new government will work in line with public aspirations

KATHMANDU: National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal has expressed confidence that the new government will act in line with the aspirations and sentiments of the Nepali people.

Speaking at the inauguration of the general assembly of the Nepal National Business Federation in Kathmandu on Sunday, Dahal said the formation of a youth-led government following the Gen-Z movement has created a model that could be emulated globally.

He extended best wishes to the government, urging it to move forward by respecting public sentiment and fulfilling its responsibilities.

Dahal also stressed the need to curb market irregularities and middlemen practices, calling for stronger consumer protection, enhanced transparency, and a more investment-friendly environment. He said Parliament would continue to monitor and guide the government in this regard.

Highlighting economic challenges, he said the country’s economy has been affected by multiple factors, and emphasized the need to review and reform policy frameworks, including the tax system, to make them more responsive to current demands.

He further pointed to the impact of global developments, particularly conflicts in the Middle East, which have contributed to rising petroleum prices and affected Nepal’s economy. He called on the government to take effective diplomatic initiatives to stabilize the market.

Dahal also expressed confidence that discussions around implementing Maximum Retail Price (MRP) could help improve market transparency and protect consumer interests.

He added that the Federal Parliament would facilitate the formulation of necessary laws to safeguard the rights and interests of small and medium entrepreneurs.
