Cloudy skies and scattered rain expected across Nepal



KATHMANDU: A mix of westerly and local wind systems is influencing weather patterns across Nepal, bringing cloud cover, scattered rainfall, and snowfall in several hilly and mountainous regions, while temperatures are gradually rising in the Terai.

At present, the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces are generally cloudy, while the Terai of Sudurpaschim Province remains mostly clear.

Light to moderate rain and snowfall have been reported in some areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as at a few locations in Bagmati Province.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, similar conditions are expected this afternoon, with generally cloudy skies over hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and partly cloudy weather elsewhere.

There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Isolated rainfall is also possible in the Terai region of Lumbini. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to rise in the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim.

Tonight, the hilly and mountainous regions are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the Terai will see partly cloudy conditions. Light rain and snowfall are likely in some Himalayan areas across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim.

The Division has also noted a gradual rise in temperatures across most parts of the country, particularly in the Terai, valleys and inner plains of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim. The public in these areas has been advised to remain cautious.
