Shah and Lamichhane hold final talks on Cabinet formation; Central Committee yet to be involved

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane and Senior leaders Balen Shah are holding final discussions to decide on the individuals to be included in the new Cabinet.

Sources say these deliberations have not yet reached broader party levels, and several issues remain under discussion.

As a result, the Central Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday does not include an agenda to discuss potential Cabinet members. Party leaders confirmed that no formal discussion on government nominees will take place during the meeting.

The Central Committee meeting, scheduled for 4 pm, is expected to amend the party statute to appoint Shah as the parliamentary party leader. Immediately after, a parliamentary party meeting will formally elect him to the post.

Balen Shah is set to be appointed Prime Minister on Friday, according to party sources.

The party is also preparing to expand the Council of Ministers on the same day, with all Cabinet members expected to take the oath alongside the new Prime Minister.
