RSP set to elect Balen as parliamentary party leader today



KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is holding a Central Committee meeting today at 4 pm, followed by a Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting to elect its PP leader.

The party said the meetings will cover the selection of the parliamentary party leader and other key agenda items. After the newly elected lawmakers take the oath of office and secrecy at Singha Durbar today, the RSP will convene both the central committee and parliamentary party to elect Balendra (Balen) Shah as the parliamentary party leader.

Following the selection, the party will submit the name of the Prime Minister to the President’s Office in accordance with Article 71(1) of the Constitution. Preparations are underway for Balen to take the oath of office and secrecy as Prime Minister tomorrow, Friday.
