Commerce Department fines two firms, directs 17 to comply



KATHMANDU: Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has fined two firms following irregularities found during market inspections.

The Department said Pilgrims Grocery Pvt. Ltd., Swayambhu, was fined Rs 201,000, while RS Grocery and Gas Shop, Bhaisepati, Lalitpur, was fined Rs 10,000. It also issued corrective directives to 17 other firms.

The Department stated that the action was taken in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS. It added that regular market monitoring is being carried out in coordination with local representatives, consumer rights activists, and other stakeholders.
