NC candidates release joint resolution paper on Kathmandu valley development



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress candidates from the Kathmandu Valley released a joint resolution paper on how they would focus on developing the Kathmandu Valley.

Fifteen candidates of NC from the valley made public the ‘Kathmandu Valley Development Resolution’ virtually on Thursday. They forwarded a plan of integrated urban development, giving special recognition to indigenous characteristics of the three cities in the valley.

They vowed to develop the Kathmandu Valley as a clean, modern and living city of world. The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority would be capacitated to enforce a plan on restructuring the federal capital city. The issues under this scheme included transport management, smart mobility policy, integrated urban transport, concept of mass transport, construction of road infrastructures friendly to cyclists and pedestrians.

Curbing air pollution and management of archaeological places are also given priority. Beautification of city, conservation of valley rivers and nearby parks and community forests, promotion of healthy lifestyle, technology-friendly education, access to quality education and health services, integrated land utilization policy, waste management, strict enforcement of building code, early warning system in place to reduce climate disasters are other issues stressed by the candidates.

Poverty alleviation, employment generation, promotion of IT and social security schemes, address to the landless people, sustainable solution to drinking water are also included in the resolution paper.

The NC candidates in Kathmandu district are Prabal Thapa in constituency-1, Kabir Sharma in constituency-2, Ramesh Aryal in constituency-3, Sachin Timalsina in constituency-4, Pradip Paudel in constituency-5, Sabuj Baniya in constituency-6, Pramod Hari Guragain in constituency-7, Sapana Rajbhandari in constituency-8, Nanu Bastola in constituency-9 and Himal Karki in constituency-10.

Similarly, in Bhaktapur, Kiran Neupane is contesting from constituency-1, Kabir Rana from constituency-2, and in Lalitpur district, Uday Shumser Rana is contesting from constituency-1, Prem Krishna Maharjan from constituency-2 and Jitendra Kumar Shrestha from constituency-3.
