Domestic, international flights to operate on election day

KATHMANDU: Domestic and international flights will continue to operate on the day of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

The Election Commission Nepal has taken various decisions to facilitate election security and the voting process. In this regard, the Commission has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs to create an environment for regular operation of air services on the election day.

According to the decision, both domestic and international flights will remain operational. The Commission has also instructed that passengers holding valid air tickets be allowed to travel between the airport and their homes or hotels using private vehicles or transportation arranged by the respective airlines.

In previous elections, domestic flights were typically suspended on polling day. Following that practice, the Nepal Tourism Board had even issued a travel advisory.
