Maharajgunj Bhat-Bhateni reopens after Gen Z protest damage

KATHMANDU: The Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket in Maharajgunj, which was looted, vandalized, and set on fire during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9, 2025, has reopened to the public from today.

The reopening was marked by a special puja conducted by Bhat-Bhateni Chairman Min Bahadur Gurung and other officials.

The supermarket building, which had been completely damaged during the protests, underwent nearly six months of repair and reconstruction before being made accessible to customers again.
