Printing of proportional ballots completed, work begins on first-past-the-post ballots



KATHMANDU: The printing of ballots for the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system has begun for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

On Monday, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, along with other officials of the Election Commission, inspected the ballot printing process at Janak Education Materials Centre Limited in Sanothimi.

Following the inspection, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari said that the printing of 20.323 million ballots for the FPTP system has started. He added that the task is expected to be completed within around 15 days.

Bhandari also informed that the printing of 20.85 million ballots for the proportional representation system has already been completed. According to him, the Commission plans to dispatch ballots to all constituencies by February 17.

He stated that all necessary preparations for the election, including ballot security measures, have been completed ahead of polling day. Earlier, Janak Education Materials Centre had printed around 1.1 million sample ballots for the FPTP system and handed them over to the Election Commission.
