KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Balendra Shah (Balen) has submitted a medical report to the Federal Parliament Secretariat stating that he needs to wear sunglasses while attending parliamentary meetings due to a health condition.
Parliament Secretariat Joint Secretary and spokesperson Ekram Giri confirmed that a letter accompanied by a medical report had been received regarding the Prime Minister’s need to wear sunglasses in Parliament.
“A letter with a medical report stating that the Prime Minister is required to wear sunglasses has been received by the Parliament Secretariat,” Giri told Nepal Khabar on Tuesday morning.
During a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee earlier, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal had said lawmakers would no longer be allowed to wear sunglasses inside the House after repeated questions were raised over the practice.
Following the Speaker’s remarks, Prime Minister Shah submitted the medical report to the Parliament Secretariat, stating that he is required to wear sunglasses due to his health condition.
