Prachanda calls for unity to revive Nepal’s communist movement

KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed the need to reunite and strengthen Nepal’s communist movement, saying the movement must regain its strength after facing setbacks in recent years.

Speaking at a programme organised in Kathmandu on Saturday to mark the 13th memorial day of Nepal Communist Party founding leader Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, Prachanda said communist forces should draw inspiration from leaders like Pushpa Lal Shrestha and Karmacharya to revitalise the movement.

He said communist parties need to come together to address challenges to national sovereignty, resist authoritarian tendencies and move forward with determination.

Prachanda recalled Karmacharya’s contribution as a close associate of Pushpa Lal, highlighting his role in organising the labour movement, class struggle and the broader communist movement in Nepal.

He said true commitment to revolutionary ideals is measured not by the number of years spent in politics or sacrifices made at specific moments, but by lifelong dedication to principles, ideology and objectives.

Prachanda said Karmacharya remained committed to his political beliefs and revolutionary path until his final days, leaving an inspiring example for Nepal’s communist movement.
