KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta has held discussions on expanding digital health services, strengthening telemedicine and developing a national digital health system.
During a meeting, a delegation comprising Badimalika Municipality Mayor Amar Khadka, Smart Health Global representative Manoj Khadka, Sushil Lekhak and others presented the conclusions and recommendations of the The Last Mile: Digital Health Conference 2083.
The delegation shared experiences from implementing digital health services at the local level and stressed the need to develop a national digital health system by prioritizing the expansion of telemedicine, integration of health information systems, legal and policy reforms, financial sustainability and stronger coordination among the three tiers of government.
Minister Mehta described digital health as a key tool for expanding citizens’ access to healthcare services and said the government would study the conference’s recommendations before advancing the necessary policy and institutional initiatives.
She also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a secure, interoperable, equitable and sustainable digital health system.
