RSP to hold office-bearer elections today after central committee results

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will hold elections for its office-bearers under the ongoing first general convention later today, following the announcement of central committee election results.

Party spokesperson Manish Jha said that voting for office-bearer positions will begin at 4 pm after the results of the central committee elections are made public.

According to the party statute, only those elected as central committee members are eligible to contest for office-bearer positions. As a result, the leadership election process will proceed only after the completion and announcement of central committee results.

The party’s statute provides for a total of 19 office-bearer positions, some of which are elected, while others are appointed by the party president.

A total of six positions will be elected through voting in this phase of the convention. These include one open vice-president, one female vice-president, one open general secretary, two open joint general secretaries, and one female joint general secretary.

Candidates have intensified internal preparations as the leadership contest enters a decisive phase.

Election officials said nominations for office-bearer posts will be submitted only after the final results of the central committee elections are declared, following which the voting process will formally begin.
