DDC paying farmers nearly Rs 10 million daily while gradually clearing dues

KATHMANDU: The Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) has been paying nearly Rs 10 million to farmers on a daily basis while gradually clearing outstanding dues.

According to Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Gita Chaudhary, the payment process has become regular following the implementation of the corporation’s reform action plan.

Out of approximately Rs 580 million in outstanding liabilities accumulated over the past four months, around Rs 120 million has already been paid.

The ministry stated that, under a phased payment plan, dues equivalent to one month’s payment will be cleared by Asar 13.

DDC is currently conducting transactions worth nearly Rs 10 million daily, and payments are being transferred to farmers’ accounts on the same day.

The remaining outstanding amount of around Rs 460 million is targeted to be fully cleared within the next two months.

According to the ministry, continuous coordination is being carried out with relevant agencies to resolve the issue while respecting the labor and contribution of farmers.
