EU delegation in Nepal to meet PM Balen Shah tomorrow



KATHMANDU: The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Nepal, led by EU Ambassador to Nepal Véronique Lorenzo, is hosting a two-day high-level visit by 22 Ambassadors and Deputy Heads of Mission from EU Member States today and tomorrow.

As part of the visit, the delegation will call on Prime Minister (PM) Balendra Shah on Tuesday, 26 May. The visit aims to engage with the newly formed Balen Shah government and further strengthen EU–Nepal relations.

According to the Delegation to the EU in Nepal, the delegation of EU ambassadors includes representatives from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

During the visit, the delegation will hold a series of high-level meetings with Nepal’s leadership, including a courtesy call on PM Shah on Tuesday, 26 May.

EU Ambassador Lorenzo said the mission reflects the EU’s continued commitment to Nepal, noting that the visit is intended to congratulate the new government, reaffirm support for Nepal’s development priorities, and explore expanded cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, climate action, and multilateral engagement.

She added that “Team Europe” stands ready to work with Nepal toward a more prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive future. The European Union remains one of Nepal’s key development partners, working alongside government bodies, civil society, and the private sector to promote inclusive economic growth, democratic governance, education, and sustainable development.
