ICC League 2: Nepal beat UAE by 37 runs



KATHMANDU: Nepal secured a 37-run victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in an ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match held on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 201 runs, UAE were bowled out for 163 in 48.2 overs. For Nepal, Karan KC led the bowling attack with four wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami claimed two wickets each. Dipendra Singh Airee and Lalit Rajbanshi picked up one wicket apiece.

For UAE, Harpreet Singh top-scored with 39 runs off 52 balls, hitting five boundaries. Muhammad Waseem contributed 34 runs, while Akhil Deep Nath added 30.

Earlier, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Nepal were bowled out for 200 in 48.2 overs after being asked to bat first. Dipendra Singh Airee was the top scorer with 75 runs off 90 balls, including five fours and two sixes.

Nepal had a shaky start, losing Aasif Sheikh for 7 and skipper Rohit Paudel for just 2 runs. Kushal Bhurtel made 24, while Bashir Ahmad added 20 and Karan KC chipped in with 22.

Among others, Bhim Sharki scored 10, while Arif Sheikh and Sompal Kami contributed 15 runs each.

For UAE, Junaid Siddique, Ajay Kumar and Khuzaima Tanveer took three wickets each.
