Mahabir Pun demands action against MP over alleged rude behavior toward school principal

KATHMANDU: Independent lawmaker Mahabir Pun has called for strict action against lawmakers who display arrogance and misuse their position, saying public representatives must act as servants of the people.

His remarks came after a video of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Bishwaraj Pokharel from Okhaldhunga went viral on social media, in which he is seen allegedly reprimanding a school principal for not coming to welcome him at the gate.

Reacting to the incident on social media, Pun strongly objected to the MP’s behavior, questioning his conduct and calling for disciplinary action.

“Who knows which party he belongs to? If I were his leader, I would have sacked him on the spot and sent him home,” Pun wrote.

He further said that being a Member of Parliament means serving the people, adding that lawmakers must dedicate their term to public service with sincerity and discipline.

Pun also said that showing arrogance toward a school principal over a lack of formal reception disrespects the dignity of the parliamentary role.

He demanded that the concerned lawmaker publicly apologize for his behavior, warning that failure to do so could lead to public backlash and demands for recall.

The video continues to circulate widely on social media, showing the MP allegedly scolding the principal for not coming to greet him.
