NA implementing integrated security plan for elections

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army has made arrangements for security management in three phases, namely before, during and after the election, in the context of the House of Representatives elections to be held on March 5.

According to Nepal Army Spokesperson Assistant Lieutenant Colonel Rajaram Basnet, the necessary preparations have been completed by conducting election-focused training and joint exercises.

The Army has also been providing security at the ballot printing sites and transporting ballot papers from Kathmandu to election offices in all districts of the country.

During the election, the third perimeter security is provided, and after the election, an integrated team including other security agencies, election officers and party representatives is providing security and transporting the ballot boxes to the counting site.

According to the integrated security plan, the army will carry out security work at polling stations and counting sites, conduct aerial patrols, and neutralize suspicious objects during the election.

The army has stated that it will deploy additional troops through various means as needed in the third perimeter of the security system and deploy in any security perimeter to create a safe environment for the election.

To further strengthen election security, regular patrols are being conducted by establishing bases in various places across the country in coordination and cooperation with local administrations and relevant stakeholders.

Talking to RSS, NA Spokesperson Basnet said that the army is fully committed to ensuring election security according to the integrated security plan by fully complying with the election code of conduct, in coordination with the government, Election Commission, local administration and other security agencies.
