Petroleum products worth Rs 11.52 billion imported through eastern border



BHADRAPUR: Petroleum products valued at Rs 11.52 billion have been imported through the eastern border checkpoint at Kakadbhitta by mid-February in the current fiscal year 2025/26.

The imports included petrol, diesel, LP gas, ATF, and kerosene. Ishwar Kumar Humagain, Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, stated that petroleum imports have increased by Rs 602.10 million compared to the same period in the last fiscal year 2024/25. He added that the rise in imports has boosted revenue from petroleum products by 6.70 percent.

According to official statistics, Rs 5.63 billion in revenue has been collected from petroleum product imports during the first seven months of the current fiscal year. During this period, 62,932 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 5.53 billion and 40,352 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 3.81 billion were imported.

Similarly, 14,999 metric tons of LP gas valued at Rs 1.46 billion, 4,736 kiloliters of ATF worth Rs 435.8 million, and 1,212 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs 113 million were imported during the same period, Humagain reported.
