Sports Development Committee to operate covered hall in Damauli



TANAHUN: The covered hall located at BP Banbatika in Byas Municipality–3 will be operated and managed by the Tanahun District Sports Development Committee.

The hall, constructed with investment from Byas Municipality, is set to be formally handed over to the committee. According to municipal spokesperson Suresh Thapa, a recent executive meeting of Byas Municipality decided to coordinate with the District Coordination Committee and entrust the operation and management of the facility to the Sports Development Committee. The covered hall is currently being used for badminton competitions.

The hall was constructed by the Byas Nagar Badminton Club at a total cost of Rs 9,663,747. Club president Jiwan Gurung said the facility was built in response to the growing popularity of badminton in the area. Of the total cost, Byas Municipality contributed Rs 8.785 million, while Rs 700,000 was raised through cash contributions and Rs 178,522 through voluntary labor.

The land for the covered hall, owned by the District Coordination Committee, was handed over to Byas Municipality for the project. Municipal funding was provided in phases: Rs 3,284,293 in FY 2077/78, Rs 3,125,931 in FY 2078/79, Rs 1,425,000 in FY 2080/81, and Rs 950,000 in the current fiscal year.
