KATHMANDU: An Indian national has been arrested with 535 grams of gold at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Mohammed Chera Thodi, a resident of Kerala, India, who arrived from Dubai on Thursday, was arrested after police recovered the gold during a security check at the airport.
According to Airport Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajkumar Silwal, the gold was in a semi-solid form and had been wrapped in plastic and concealed inside the suspect’s underwear. SP Silwal said the suspect has been handed over to the Airport Customs Office for further investigation and legal action.
