SC orders police to appear with items seized from Durga Prasai’s house

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered police to submit a written response explaining the reasons for searching the residence of campaigner Durga Prasai.

A single bench of Justice Nripdhoj Niraula, hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by Prasai’s wife, Uma Prasai, on Monday, directed the defendants to submit their written response within 24 hours, excluding travel time.

The court also ordered the police to appear with the items seized during the search of Prasai’s residence. Police had searched Prasai’s house on August 20.

The Supreme Court specifically directed Bhaktapur police to bring the seized items to the court on the day of the hearing.
