LALITPUR: Lalitpur Metropolitan City has announced a budget of Rs 7.48 billion for the upcoming fiscal year, prioritizing heritage conservation, environmental protection, tourism promotion, and employment generation.
Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya presented the budget of Rs 7.48 billion during the metropolis’s ninth municipal assembly held in Lalitpur on Wednesday.
The budget is slightly higher than the current fiscal year’s allocation of Rs 7.47 billion.
Presenting the financial plan, Shakya said the metropolis aims to ensure prudent, transparent, and justified expenditure in the coming fiscal year.
Of the total budget, Rs 3.25 billion has been allocated for recurrent expenditure, while Rs 4.23 billion has been earmarked for capital expenditure.
The budget places special emphasis on the protection and promotion of art, culture, and heritage, conservation and effective utilization of local resources, preservation of public land, disaster risk reduction and management, environmental protection, and the promotion of greenery.
The metropolis has also prioritized the promotion of heritage, cultural and religious tourism, disability-friendly services and infrastructure, youth and sports development, child-friendly governance, disaster preparedness and rescue operations, entrepreneurship development, employment promotion, and poverty reduction programs.
According to metropolitan officials, the budget is designed to support sustainable urban development while preserving Lalitpur’s rich cultural and historical identity.
