Over Rs 1.72 million collected in traffic fines across Kathmandu Valley



KATHMANDU: Traffic police fined 2,550 vehicles for violating traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours, collecting more than Rs 1.72 million in penalties.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the violations included 102 cases of drunk driving, 142 instances of unauthorized ride-sharing services, 140 traffic signal violations, and 207 cases of overspeeding.

Similarly, 56 motorists were penalized for violating lane discipline, while 108 were fined for unnecessary honking in restricted areas.

The office also took action against 14 vehicles for emitting smoke beyond permissible limits and 35 vehicles for operating without proper roadworthiness inspections.

In addition, 1,746 drivers and riders were penalized for various other traffic-related offences, according to the Traffic Police Office.
