KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds continue to influence large parts of eastern and central Nepal, bringing chances of rain and thunderstorms to several provinces, while heatwave conditions are likely to persist in parts of the western and far-western Terai,
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, western and local winds are also affecting other parts of the country.
At present, weather conditions are generally cloudy in Koshi Province, while the hilly and mountainous regions of Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are experiencing partly cloudy skies.
Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in some areas of Koshi Province and at one or two locations in Bagmati Province.
This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions of the country and in the Terai areas of Koshi Province, while Madhes Province is likely to see partly cloudy conditions. The Terai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain mostly clear.
The Department has forecast moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two locations in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is also likely at some places in the Terai of Koshi Province and at one or two locations in Madhes Province.
Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are likely to occur in some parts of the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. Temperatures are also expected to rise in parts of the Terai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, increasing the likelihood of hot daytime conditions.
For tonight, the Department forecasts generally cloudy weather in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Terai areas of Koshi Province. The hilly and mountainous regions of Madhes, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain partly cloudy.
Weather conditions in the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces are likely to remain mostly clear.
There is a possibility of moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces and at one or two locations in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of the Koshi Terai and at isolated locations in Madhes Province.
The Department has urged residents in areas vulnerable to thunderstorms, lightning, heatwaves and rising temperatures to remain cautious and stay updated with the latest weather advisories and forecasts.
