CHITWAN: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) is set to organize its 30th national medical conference on May 30 and 31 at the conference hall of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Chitwan.

The conference will be held under the theme: “Strengthening Primary Health Care Through Innovation for Modern, Accessible, Affordable and Equitable Health Care.”

According to NMA President Dr. Anil Bikram Karki, representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), along with expert doctors from India and China, are scheduled to participate in the event.

The conference will also feature video presentations by experts associated with the World Medical Association. Doctors from across the country are expected to attend the gathering in a representative capacity.

Dr. Karki said the conference will include four panel discussions and more than 100 presentations, including around 60 research papers and various scientific presentations.

He added that special sessions will focus on primary health care reform, digital health, rural health access, health insurance and human resource management in the health sector.

According to the association, the conference, traditionally organized every two years, has been held every three years over the past 12 years.

Discussions during the event will focus on innovation-driven solutions to challenges related to accessibility, quality and affordability in Nepal’s healthcare system.

Dr. Karki said scientific sessions will also explore ways to strengthen the constitutional right to health and integrate global technological innovations into Nepal’s health sector.

The conference will also mark the formal handover of responsibilities to the newly elected office bearers of the association.
