Heatwave conditions likely in Tarai belt of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing the partial influence of westerly and local winds.

As a result, the Himalayan region and the Tarai areas of Koshi Province are partly cloudy, while the weather in the rest of the country remains mostly fair, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

This afternoon, the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi Province, along with other mountainous and hilly areas, are expected to remain generally cloudy, while most Tarai regions will be partly cloudy.

The Department said there is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi Province.

Similar conditions are likely at a few locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province, as well as in some Himalayan areas of Lumbini Province, Karnali Province, and Sudurpashchim Province. A few places in the Tarai of Koshi Province may also receive light to moderate rainfall.

Meanwhile, hot conditions are expected in the Tarai, valleys, and basin areas of Madhesh Province, as well as in the Tarai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. The Department has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to develop in some Tarai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.
