Rabi Lamichhane questions former Speaker Devraj Ghimire during Jhapa address

JHAPA: Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has questioned how former Speaker Devraj Ghimire is seeking votes after allegedly cutting off microphones when public issues were being raised in Parliament.

Addressing voters in Jhapa, Lamichhane said, “When the people’s voice was being raised in Parliament and the microphone was switched off, with what face is the former Speaker now asking for votes?”

He added that while he was unaware of how Ghimire was approaching voters, he himself was seeking votes for RSP candidate Indira Rana.

Lamichhane claimed that the country has failed to gain momentum due to the inefficiency of traditional political parties. He alleged that he and his party have been subjected to political vendetta, stating that such actions would not strengthen democracy.

Accusing established political forces of conspiring out of fear of a new generation and a wave of change, Lamichhane said obstacles were being created at every step. “We have come to deliver results, but barriers are being erected at every step,” he said. “Political revenge may cause suffering to individuals, but it does not build a nation.”

Referring to the cooperative case and recent political developments, Lamichhane maintained that he is always ready to cooperate with investigations but would not accept what he described as prejudiced attacks.

He also expressed commitment to strengthening the RSP ahead of the upcoming elections and vowed not to compromise on public issues. Lamichhane urged supporters and party cadres to remain calm and move forward with patience and restraint.
