Traffic opened on blocked Mid-Hill Highway

DHORPATAN: The Mid-Hill Highway, which was blocked from Friday night due to snowfall, has been opened for traffic. The highway had been blocked due to snowfall at Patihalne bordering Baglung, Rolpa, and Eastern Rukum.

Vehicular traffic had come to a halt on the highway after heavy snow piled up on the main road. Now, with the help of a JCB clearing the snow from the Eastern Rukum side, vehicles have started operating, informed Police Inspector Tilak Manandhar of the District Police Office Burtibang.

Small and large vehicles that had departed from Kathmandu for Rukum East, West Rukum, Jajarkot, Dolpa and other places were stranded midway. Passengers were in distress in the cold. Manandhar said that the highway became operational after road was cleared of snow using a JCB excavator.

Snowfall has occurred in upper areas including Nisikhola and Dhorpatan of Baglung, along with Patihalne. The snowfall has affected the lives of the local people.
