BIRGUNJ: Nepal Police arrested two people with 154 grams of brown sugar and 11 grams 59 milligrams of an opium-like substance in Birgunj.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Malla, a joint team from the District Police Office and the Narcotics Control Bureau’s branch office arrested the two today based on information that drug trafficking was taking place in the area.
Police said the two suspects were riding a motorcycle bearing registration number BR05BL1680 and were heading suspiciously toward the bus park in Birgunj Metropolitan City–15. During a search, police recovered 154 grams of brown sugar from their possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Reyaz Alam of Chhipaharamai Rural Municipality–2 and Santosh Prasad Patel of Jagarnathpur Rural Municipality–6, police said.
Police also searched Patel’s residence and seized 11 grams and 59 milligrams of an opium-like substance concealed in black plastic. Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
