KATHMANDU: Nepali boxer Khagendra Rokamagar has advanced to the last 16 at the ongoing 20th Asian Games in Japan after defeating a boxer from Macau.
In the preliminary-round bout held at Nishio Gymnasium on Monday, Khagendra defeated Macau’s Alvin John Reyes Salinas 5-0 in the men’s 60 kg category. This marks Nepal’s first boxing victory at the Asian Games.
Nepal’s Chandra Bahadur Thapa was eliminated in the first round of the men’s 55 kg category on Sunday after losing to India’s Jadumani Singh.
In the women’s competition, Ramisha Shrestha also exited in the first round after losing to a Vietnamese boxer in the 51 kg category.
