KAVRE: An awareness campaign has been launched in vulnerable areas of Kavrepalanchok in view of the forecast for heavy rainfall, with authorities urging residents to remain on high alert.
The Armed Police Force Nepal’s No. 15 Battalion Headquarters and Nepal Police have been conducting public-awareness activities and miking campaigns at schools and public places in potentially vulnerable areas, including Dolalghat, areas around the Roshi Khola and Bhakunde Besi, since Tuesday.
The District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchok, has urged local governments and security agencies to remain prepared for monsoon-related disasters and to keep local disaster management committees informed about the situation.
Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari said all local governments and security agencies have been instructed to remain prepared following the weather forecast for rainfall from September 24 to 28.
“Considering the risk of disasters, a letter has also been sent to local governments, urging them to remain prepared,” Adhikari said. District-based security agencies have also urged concerned authorities and local governments to provide the necessary resources to facilitate the mobilization of available personnel.
