Youth arrested with ‘shotgun’ looted during Gen-Z protest



BHADRAPUR: Police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Damak with a shotgun allegedly looted from police during last year’s Gen-Z protest.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Awa, information officer at the District Police Office, Jhapa, the arrested man has been identified as Suman Karn of Urlabari Municipality–6, Morang. He had been working at a motorcycle garage near Ratuwa Bridge in Damak Municipality–2.

Police received confidential information that the shotgun looted during the Gen-Z protest on Bhadra 23 and 24 had been hidden at Khairbari in Damak Municipality–4.

Based on the information, police took Karn into custody and searched the location he identified.

Police said the shotgun was recovered wrapped in a blanket and hidden at the location.

DSP Awa said an investigation is underway to determine where the shotgun was looted from and how it came into Karn’s possession during the protest.
