14th South Asian Games to be held from April 3–11 next year

KATHMANDU: The 14th South Asian Games (SAG) will be held in Pakistan from April 3 to 11, 2027.

A meeting of the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) in Islamabad, Pakistan, has decided to hold the 14th edition of the Games during the first half of April next year.

A total of 28 sports will be included in the Games. Host Pakistan will be joined by Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

The SAG is held every four years, with the previous edition taking place in Nepal in 2019. Pakistan was selected to host the Games after Nepal, but the event was repeatedly postponed amid political tensions between India and Pakistan.

Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Vice President Chaturananda Raj Baidya and National Sports Council member Sikka Suwal Shrestha are participating in the preparatory meeting for the 14th SAG in Pakistan.

NOC President Shrestha and Vice President Raj Baidya, along with NSC member Suwal Shrestha, are representing Nepal at the meeting of the South Asian Olympic Council’s Central Committee.

The meeting, which is scheduled to continue until tomorrow, is expected to discuss preparations for the 14th South Asian Games, as well as other key issues related to the regional sporting event.
