KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa on Thursday said it was his responsibility to unite leaders and cadres from all generations within the party and move forward together.
Speaking at a programme organized by the party’s Central Policy, Research and Training Academy to mark the 44th B.P. Memorial Day, Thapa said the Nepali Congress must embrace new ideas and thinking in line with the country’s changing political landscape.
“The party has leaders and cadres from four generations. It is my responsibility to bring everyone together and move the party forward inclusively,” Thapa said.
He said the party should draw inspiration from the ideals, sacrifice and spirit of service of B.P. Koirala, urging leaders and cadres to focus not only on elections and politics but also on social service and public welfare.
“Step out of the reels and into real life. Only then will you hear the voices of ordinary people,” Thapa said. “Work in a way that sends the message that the Nepali Congress stands with people in their difficult times.”
Thapa also noted that while the Nepali Congress is part of provincial and local governments, it remains in the opposition at the federal level.
He urged party leaders and workers to actively address issues affecting people’s livelihoods from their respective constituencies and continue engaging with the public.
