KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on hosts the Netherlands today in a crucial ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series match as they look to register their first win of the series.
Nepal entered the match under pressure after suffering an eight-wicket defeat to Namibia in their opening fixture. The match against the Netherlands is scheduled to begin at 2:45 pm at a ground in Utrecht.
With their first game ending in defeat, Nepal need a positive result to strengthen their position in the League 2 standings.
Nepal will continue their campaign with a return fixture against Namibia on July 27, followed by another match against the Netherlands on July 29.
After 29 matches, Nepal sit fifth in the League 2 table with 24 points. Namibia, who have also played 29 matches, are sixth with the same number of points but an inferior net run rate.
The Netherlands are third with 32 points from 28 matches. The United States lead the standings with 43 points, followed by Scotland with 38, while Oman are fourth with 31 points.
Nepal need to win at least four more matches to overtake Oman in the standings. Canada are seventh with 24 points, while the United Arab Emirates remain bottom with 14 points.
