Scooter rider killed in bus collision in Makwanpur



BAGMATI: A scooter rider died after being hit by a bus along the Kantilokpath road section at Sikhar Kateri in Makwanpurgadi Rural Municipality-2 of Makwanpur on Saturday afternoon.

According to the District Police Office Makwanpur, the accident occurred when a bus heading from Kathmandu to Birgunj collided with a scooter travelling in the opposite direction on a curve.

Police identified the deceased as 55-year-old Dorje Ratna Yonjan, the scooter rider and a local resident.

Police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushkar Bogati said Yonjan sustained serious injuries in the crash and died during treatment at CMC Churehill Hospital in Hetauda.

The bus involved in the accident and its driver, 41-year-old Shiva Bahadur Chaulagain of Chaurideurali Rural Municipality-2 in Kavre, have been taken into custody for further investigation.

Two boys injured after falling off cliff in Hetauda

In a separate incident, two boys were injured after a bicycle went out of control and plunged around 35 meters down a cliff in a forest area at Bhorle in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-12.

The injured have been identified as 12-year-old Sajan Pakhrin and 12-year-old Ronit Thapa Magar.

According to police, the boys were travelling from Bhorle towards Ramantar at around 11 am when the bicycle lost control on the forest trail.

Both injured boys were rescued and taken to CMC Churehill Hospital in Hetauda for treatment, police said.
