Govt preparing to reopen Hetauda Textile Industry: Minister Yadav

HETAUDA: Gauri Kumari Yadav has said the government is making preparations to bring the long-shuttered Hetauda Textile Industry back into operation.

During an inspection of the Hetauda Industrial Area on Saturday, Minister Yadav said reopening the ailing textile factory would contribute to the country’s economic development and create employment opportunities.

She stated that the government has adopted a policy of reviving sick and closed industries in order to strengthen the national economy and promote job creation.

The minister also pledged that the upcoming fiscal year’s budget would allocate funds for the operation of the Hetauda Textile Industry.

“Reopening closed industries will create employment opportunities,” she said, adding that the government has already begun necessary groundwork for restarting the textile factory.

Minister Yadav also inspected the Hetauda Textile Industry premises along with the office of the Hetauda Industrial Area Management.

On the occasion, Hetauda Industrial Area Management Office Chief Sangita Kunwar briefed the minister about the status of industries currently operating within the industrial zone.

Established on December 6, 1963 with financial assistance from the United States government, the industrial area currently houses 147 industries and business establishments.

Spread across 3,228 ropanis of land, the industrial estate is home to major industries including food processing factories, United Breweries, Gorkha Brewery, Asian Paints, animal feed industries, and carton manufacturing factories.
