Lawmakers pledge prioritizing child rights in forthcoming budget

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers from federal and provincial parliaments have pledges prioritizing issues of children in forthcoming policy, programmes and budget.

The forthcoming budget and policies need to be friendly to child rights, they said, arguing that investment in children’s education counts much.

They viewed it during a programme organized by the National Campaign for Children as Zone of Peace. They underscored the urgency of increasing budget to curb early marriage, increase day meal and nutrition, promote child-friendly local governments, and enforce the laws relating to child rights.

The programme was attended by 36 lawmakers of federal parliaments- National Assembly and House of Representatives and Bagmati Province.
