Heavy rain, thunderstorms likely in several parts of Nepal



KATHMANDU: The weather is set to turn wet in several parts of the country on Friday, with the Kathmandu Valley also likely to receive rain amid forecasts of thunderstorms and heavy showers.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, most parts of the country will remain generally cloudy this afternoon. Moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at some places in the mountainous and hilly regions.

Moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning is also possible in parts of the Terai in Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in a few areas of the Terai in Koshi, Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces. One or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces may receive heavy rainfall, it said.

Similarly, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the country tonight. Moderate to heavy rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at some places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is also expected at many places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at some places in the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Some parts of the Terai are also likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning. The Division has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in the Himalayan, hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
