Home Minister Aryal meets UN Resident Coordinator Yahia



KATHMANDU: Om Prakash Aryal held a meeting with Lila Pieters Yahia, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Nepal, at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.

During the meeting, Minister Aryal expressed gratitude to the United Nations for its continued support to Nepal in areas such as governance reform, climate change response and capacity building of local levels.

He expressed confidence that cooperation between the Government of Nepal and the United Nations would further deepen in the coming days.

The Home Minister also stated that the government is working intensively to ensure peace and security during the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5. He said efforts are underway to conduct the polls in a free and fair environment, thereby institutionalizing democracy.

On the occasion, Resident Coordinator Yahya reaffirmed continued collaboration with the Government of Nepal. She expressed interest in expanding cooperation in areas including drug control, border security and combating human trafficking in Nepal.
