NC leaders propose Gagan Thapa as PM candidate after elections

KATHMANDU: A proposal has been raised within the Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee to field party President Gagan Kumar Thapa as the party’s candidate for prime minister following the upcoming elections on March 5.

The proposal was presented by Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma during the CWC meeting held at the party’s central office in Sanepa, eight days after the conclusion of the party’s special general convention.

Party sources said the proposal reflects growing support for Thapa as a potential leader in the federal government, pending the election results.
