NC eyes national message by fielding Gagan Thapa from Sarlahi-4

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has proposed party President Gagan Kumar Thapa as its candidate from Sarlahi constituency No. 4 in the upcoming elections, stating that the move aims to represent the sentiments of all Nepalis.

NC General Secretary Pradeep Paudel shared the party’s rationale while speaking to journalists at Sanepa on Friday, where he had arrived to attend a meeting of the newly elected Central Working Committee.

“We have proposed the Nepali Congress president as a candidate from Sarlahi-4 in this election to represent the sentiments of all Nepalis across the country,” Paudel said.

Describing Madhesh Province as the foundation of the nation, Paudel said the party intends to build a vision of national development by positioning its chair in Madhesh.

“Madhesh is the foundation of Nepal. By fielding our chair from Madhesh, we want to build the nation,” he said. “We want to construct the house of Nepal from the foundation of Madhesh.”

Paudel expressed confidence that if Thapa is elected to the House of Representatives from Sarlahi-4, the country would move forward with renewed commitment and resolve.

He further said the decision was taken with the belief that it would draw greater national attention to Madhesh-related issues.

“I believe this will help unify the country, create a new political sentiment, and further establish the importance of Madhesh,” Paudel said. “It will clarify Madhesh’s issues, prioritize them, and create an environment where national attention is drawn more seriously toward Madhesh.”
