Rain and snowfall expected in Karnali and Sudurpaschim

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted changes in the country’s weather, influenced partly by western winds.

This afternoon, skies are expected to be generally cloudy in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while hilly areas in other provinces may experience partly cloudy conditions. Most Terai regions are likely to remain mostly clear.

The Department has warned of moderate rainfall in some areas of Far Western Province and light snowfall in Karnali as well as high hilly and Himalayan regions of the Far West.

Tonight, cloud cover will increase in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with partly cloudy skies expected elsewhere. Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and parts of Gandaki may experience moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Additionally, moderate snowfall with thunder and lightning is likely in high hilly and Himalayan areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Some locations in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim could also see rain with thunder, lightning, and hail.

The Department has cautioned that, due to climate change, these weather events could affect daily life, tourism, healthcare services, and air and road transportation, urging necessary precautions.
