Oli says a weak UML would weaken the country

BHAKTAPUR: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has said that if the party becomes weak, the country will also become weak.

Inaugurating a two-day workshop of the UML’s mass organisations coordination mechanism at Chareli in Changunarayan Municipality-8, Nagarkot, on Saturday, Oli said the country was facing a difficult situation and the party needed to be further strengthened.

He stressed that the time had come to rise above personal interests and blame games and focus on the interests of the party and the country. He also urged the party’s mass organisations to remain united and work to strengthen the UML.

Oli said the government must work in the interests of the country and the people, adding that the UML would continue to hold the government accountable from the opposition.

He said the two-day workshop should deliver a clear message about strengthening both the party and the country.

During the programme, Oli honoured newly appointed Bagmati Province Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar and two ministers who took oath of office from the UML.

UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel said all party leaders and cadres should actively work to take the party forward as a united force.

Around 150 leaders and representatives, including Mass Organisations Coordination Mechanism coordinator Bhanubhakta Dhakal and UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet, are participating in the workshop. The workshop will conclude on Sunday.
