NSEC calls off protest following Rs 5,000 monthly salary hike

KATHMANDU: The Nepal School Employees Council (NSEC) has suspended its planned protest after the government announced a monthly salary increase of Rs 5,000 for school employees.

In a joint statement issued today, Council President Gangaram Tiwari and General Secretary Shantinath Yogi welcomed the government’s decision and expressed appreciation for the salary adjustment.

However, the council said several other issues affecting school employees still need to be addressed. These include improved employment conditions and facilities, opportunities for professional development, social security, adequate staffing, and permanent arrangements for school employees.

Under the government’s decision, the monthly salary subsidy for early childhood development (ECD) facilitators, school helpers and school accountants has been increased by Rs 5,000.

Following the increase, ECD facilitators will receive Rs 17,000 per month, up from Rs 12,000. The monthly salary of school helpers will rise to Rs 15,000 from Rs 10,000, while school accountants will receive Rs 20,000, up from Rs 15,000.
