Heavy rain likely in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini



KATHMANDU: Monsoon conditions continue to affect Nepal, with the monsoon trough currently positioned near its average location, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

At present, the hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as Koshi and Bagmati provinces, are experiencing generally cloudy conditions. The Terai regions of Madhesh and Koshi provinces are partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rainfall is occurring at some places in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Division has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in many hilly areas and at some places in the Himalayan region, where light snowfall is also possible.

Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is also likely at some places in the Terai of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in the Terai of Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the hilly areas of Koshi and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected to persist across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in the Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

There is also a possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Meanwhile, the Division has urged the public to remain alert, warning that heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods, river flooding, landslides and soil erosion. It has advised people to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
