Nepal Medical Council to prepare official expert roster for ethical and professional review cases



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Medical Council has announced plans to prepare an official roster of experts to obtain impartial and scientific opinions on complaints and specialized matters registered under its Professional Conduct and Health Committee.

Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the council said it would adopt a transparent and automated random selection system for mobilizing experts and has invited qualified specialists to apply for inclusion in the roster.

According to the council, applicants must be registered with the Nepal Medical Council as specialist practitioners and should not have faced disciplinary action related to ethical or professional misconduct.

Eligible candidates must also have completed an MD, MS, MDS, or equivalent specialist degree and possess at least 10 years of work experience in the relevant field after obtaining the qualification, or be serving at the level of associate professor or above in the academic sector.

The council said preference will be given to specialists who have received basic or advanced training in bioethics, medical ethics, or good clinical practice, as well as those with experience working in recognized Institutional Review Committees.

Interested and qualified specialist doctors have been asked to submit their applications within seven days from the date of publication of the notice.
